Swift's record day lifts Cornhuskers

Nate Swift was glad to see fellow wide receiver Todd Peterson after Nebraska finished off a victory against Baylor on Saturday.
After becoming NU's career receptions leader on a 9-yard touchdown catch late in the third quarter, most of the team congratulated Swift on the sideline.
Not Peterson. He told Swift he wasn't going to commend him until the game was over and Nebraska had won.

"Thank God we won, so he came up to me after the game and came through on that," said Swift, who also had a 53-yard TD reception. "It was pretty cool."
With a career-high 11 receptions Saturday, Swift now has 146 receptions. Johnny Rodgers had 143 receptions from 1970 to 1972.
"It's great honor just to be named up there with those guys and put on a list like that," Swift said. "Anything here in Nebraska where you're up on an all-time list is a great feeling and a great honor."
Swift's 121 receiving yards marked his seventh career 100-yard receiving game. He's caught a pass in 40 of 46 games as a Husker.
Head coach Bo Pelini, offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and receivers coach Ted Gilmore praised the hard-working senior from Hutchinson, Minn.
"I get tired of people saying he's a possession guy, he's this, he's that," Pelini said "He's just a heck of a football player. He's a leader, he's a competitor, he's everything you want in a football player. To his credit, he became the all-time receptions leader and that's something to be proud of, something everybody's proud of."
Swift needed seven catches to match the record and eight to surpass it. He broke the record when Joe Ganz found him near the pylon in the end zone near the end of the third quarter.
"I didn't know where I was at that point, but that was definitely a fun one to catch it (the record) on," Swift said.
