Henry says guards need to take charge on court

The most gut-wrenching part of Tuesday night’s last-second loss, Sek Henry said, was Nebraska’s mistake-prone offense.
“We just didn’t run our offense right,” said Henry, a junior guard.
One way to solve that problem, Henry said, is for the point guards to show better court leadership.
“Whether it’s me or Cookie (Miller) or Brandon (Richardson) running the point, we’ve just got to be more vocal,” Henry said. “Even though Coach (Doc) Sadler tells us what to do, we’ve still got to help lead the team.
“He’s not leading the team when we’re on the court. We are. We have to be more vocal.”
Is that what Sadler has told the point guards?
“He told us that, and Ryan (Anderson) tells us that all the time,” Henry said. “It seems like we still don’t really do it as much. It just hit my mind, like, ‘Man, we really do need to be vocal.’ Whoever is the point guard is the leader on the court. The way the offense goes is how the point guard runs it.”
The offense didn’t go well Tuesday, when the Huskers scored two field goals in the final 16 minutes, 54 seconds, and blew an 18-point lead in a 57-55 loss to Texas A&M.
Saturday, the Huskers play at Kansas State, a team Nebraska defeated 73-51 on Jan. 17.
Henry said the point guard’s responsibilities become even more crucial in a hostile road environment. Saturday’s game at Bramlage Coliseum is sold out.
“We have to be more vocal, to keep the team focused, and don’t let the crowd get in the game,” Henry said.
“If we run our offense and make them make mistakes, and we execute, we should win this game.”
