Of note: Ranked by Rivals.com as a four-star prospect, Rome is rated the sixth-best high school senior in Missouri. He originally committed to Oklahoma State.

Friday night: The Bruins were 4-4 going into a game against Blue Springs South.

Five things you should know about him:

1. I’ve found the end zone, and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. “This year, I lined up at QB and got to run one in for a touchdown. We were doing something different on offense, like the wildcat formation. It was just a quick 3-yard run, but it was the first touchdown I’ve scored, so it was exciting. I thought it’d be a different feeling than crossing every other yard line, but it really wasn’t. I kind of fell over, handed the ball to the referee, and the scoreboard changed. It wasn’t as enthralling as they make it seem.”

2. Football is my main thing, but I make time for friends. “We have NCAA football tournaments on video games. I switch my team between Tennessee and Nebraska, with USC’s offense.”

3. I committed after Nebraska’s win against Missouri in my hometown. “I was in the stands for the game. It was freezing and raining. If you would have been playing it would have been fine, but just standing there was horrible.”

4. My favorite class is creative writing. “I’m a good writer, and like English and literature a lot. We write papers and read books. We had to pick a controversial topic and write one biased paper for it, and one against it. I wrote about gun laws.”

5. Call me Coach Rome. “I’ll probably get a broad undergrad degree like business, but I’d like to get a master’s in sports administration or advertising. I’d like to be a college coach. I think I’d do well with it. I think I can bring an enthusiasm to the field, and at the same time coach the guys up.”
