Nebraska recruits earn national honors
By RON POWELL / Lincoln Journal Star
Three Nebraska volleyball recruits — Omaha Marian’s Lauren Sieckmann and Papillion-La Vista South’s Kadie and Amber Rolfzen — have earned national player of the year honors from PrepVolleyball.com.
The 5-foot-10 Sieckmann, the national sophomore of the year and honorary captain of the Journal Star’s Super-State team, paced Marian to the Class A state title in November by leading the team in both assists (660) and kills (330) as a setter/right-side player.
The Rolfzen twins, both 6-2 Super-Staters and co-freshmen national players of the year, combined for 887 kills (Amber 444 and Kadie 443) from their outside hitter positions as the Titans were Class A runners-up.
All three are playing off-season club ball for the Lincoln-based Nebraska Juniors.
